Music by George Despres
The album, coming in June 2025
About
As a child in the late 1970’s, George Despres watched his older siblings perform in rock bands at Massachusetts nightclubs, in front of cheering crowds and bright lights - his intended profession was not in doubt. Meanwhile his siblings exposed him to a broad array of contemporary music. He began taking piano lessons at the age of seven and subsequently developed a precocious and eclectic appreciation of music. From high school onward, George worked as a full-time keyboardist, lead vocalist and sometimes saxophonist and guitarist in a five-piece band, four-piece, then a duo, then briefly in a trio, performing cover music - classic and progressive rock, pop, college alternative, and a few originals - across New England states for ten years. Over this period, he independently composed and recorded original music. In the early 1990’s as the area night club scene for live cover bands declined, George met and married his wife, quit performing and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He worked professional office jobs in corporate library, archival, and records management positions in and around Boston for 27 years, sporadically dabbling in music composition and recording. In May 2024, George resigned from his office job as an Associate Director of Information Management to focus on a return to his true passion - recording electronic music. He has since recorded nine songs and is planning a three-album concept reflecting both his journey and the metaphor of building construction: Foundation, Rise, and Capstone. Expect the release of Foundation in 2025. We are rarely too old to do great things and grow.
